It is hard to believe that we are in December and racing toward the finish line of another year. Where does the time go? Seriously. It seems like this 2025 was about as fast as Michelle Lovell’s Doncho setting the world record for 5-furlongs on the grass at Ellis Park this past summer. Whoosh. Gone.

But it is even harder to believe that we could end up the live racing season at the big oval in Louisville without the presence and “photo presents” of our great friend and ally — Holly M. Smith.

Of course, she was there. Of course, she had camera in hand. Of course, she was bundled up and snuggled in a layer or two of protective and warming jackets. Of course, she captured some great photos.
