According to several high-placed sources, trainer Brad Cox has decided that Florida Derby winner and one of the top contenders for this year’s Kentucky Derby — Tappan Street — will be scratched from consideration and will not be entered.
The Kentucky HBPA just tweeted out that Cox revealed that the colt sustained a condylar fracture that was discovered after his work on Friday.
The horse has already been shipped to Lexington and the veterinarian clinic to have surgery to repair the injury.
With the defection of Tappan Street, Virginia Derby runner-up Render Judgment will now get into the Derby field of 20.
Developing Story…
