We started a new feature on the Opening Day of the Horseshoe Indianapolis meet last week. To give honor to both the track’s amazing Vice President and GM, Eric Halstrom, and his father, who served honorably and distinguishably in our country’s military, I am doing a bet for most of the dates this year to help raise money for Homeless Veterans in the area.

Our pick on Wednesday — May 7 — was our 2nd runner-up in the first 5 selections. We, also, have three winners. And, we are now up to a total of $150.35.

The good news is that we have a long way to go until the end of the meet in November and we are hoping to multiply this number by several fold.

Here’s hoping we can keep the dream alive and the earnings growing. Not a bad start.

And, here’s today’s selection…Play along with us, if you want. More the merrier.

Whatnowdaddy — 6th Race:

This is a MSW event for the Indy-breds and I will go with a first-time starter from the barn of trainer Randy Klopp. This conditioner is one of the best to ever strap a saddle on one at “The Shoe,” and he has two in this race. But Whatnowdaddy (9) seems to be working the best and gets the No. 1 rider for the barn in Luis Contreras, who has won with .27% of the first 15 mounts for this operation. Works are spot on. Barn was with .14% of the last 70 to make the debut. Has a 6-7-5 mark in the first 36 starts this meet, too, and that figures to a win mark of .17%. This one should add to the ledger. I bet $5 to win/place/show on this one.
