Today’s “Donation Play of the Day” will come in the second event on the day at “The Shoe,” just outside of the grand city of Indianapolis. Here’s our thoughts. We hope you play along.

McLean’s “Donation Play of the Day:” Rock Solo in the 2nd

Rock Solo, a 3YO son of Gormley, will likely be the favorite in today’s 2nd race, but that is OK for our purposes. Listed at 2-1 in the ML, this colt looks to be sitting on a big effort with the addition of jockey Evin Roman getting the call. So far this year, the rider has teamed up with this barn operator to win with .17% of the last 6 calls over the past two months.

Drops in class for this one, Rock Solo has true tactical speed on a dirt surface that can play to speed. He has never run at Horseshoe Indianapolis before, but is coming off a nice 3rd against a tough field at Oaklawn Park on May 2. In the last four outings, though, he has two wins and one of those were against open company in Hot Sprints. Not bad for an Arkansas-bred. In the last 7 outings, 6 have been against some stiff open leagues. Actually, he broke the maiden last year at Churchill Downs against open comp.

So…

I bet Rock Solo (5) in the 2nd at “The Shoe” today. I wager $10 across the board and hope that the red-head charges home in front so that we can get off this binder and start to stockpile some money for our charity drive.

All monies at the end of November will be given to help homeless veterans in the Indy area as part of the track’s longstanding policy to give back to those that have given us all so much. We are proud to be a small part of this endeavor, led by “The Shoe’s” VP and General Manger of Racing — Eric Halstrom.
