Editor’s Note:
It was a somber and sad day at Churchill Downs, despite the glorious spots of the fickle sun and the spectacle of Thoroughbred racing at its’ best. The clouds came outside, at times, and in the soul, most of the time, when it was discovered that legendary Hall of Fame Trainer D. Wayne Lukas had passed and he no longer would make Churchill Downs backside his most favorite of homes.
Still, all in all, our great friend Holly M. Smith was there. Per usual.
To capture it all.
