It has become the new normal.
You know.
Churchill Downs has a race meet.
Corey Lanerie rides the race meet.
Corey Lanerie wins the Jockey’s Title at said race meet.
It happened again this November.
When all the races were said and done under the famed Twin Spires for the 2019 calendar year, Lanerie stood in the winner’s circle more than any other rider on the grounds and held yet another trophy for his accomplishments.
Lanerie finished the meet with a record of 33-30-27 in 196 mounts to out-finish his good friend and competitor Julie Leparoux, who was runner-up. Leparoux had a record of 26-15-12 in just 120 rides this meet.
Lanerie’s horses also earned more purse money than any other jockey. Lanerie’s mounts earned over $2.039 million for the meet, which held some of the highest purses in history.
All told, six riders had horses to earn more than $1.054 million.
In third place was Tyler Gaffalione, who had 25 wins, while Ricardo Santana, Jr. booted him 23 winners for the meet.
