After Saturday’s races at Turfway Park were all in the record books, there was an interesting factoid that most people would not have expected, or believed.
And, most certainly, would not have bet upon.

Out of the first 32 races conducted at the Northern Kentucky track so far?
Well, 31 of them have been won by a different trainer.
The only trainer with more than one win is Genaro Garcia, who has tallied 2 wins, a second and a third in the first 7 horses that the barn has entered so far.
The other 31 races?
All won by a different trainer.
Wow.
So far, the leading trainer by purses won is Ben Colebrook — who has started 5 horses and has a resume of a win and 2 seconds. His horses have earned over $41,000 to date.
The leading trainer by number of starters so far is Mike Maker — who has a 1-2-1 mark in the first 10 starts.
There are a number of conditioners that have won with their only starter so far — including Chris Hartman, Jose Fernandez, Phil Sims, Jose Ortiz, Gene LaCroix, Steven Cahill, Edward Roggenkamp III, Phyllis Shetron, Joe Zawitz, Joe Deegan, Ron Moquett, and Wayne French.
