There’s a scrum at the top of the leaderboard. There’s congestion like you see on Louisville’s Shelbyville Road at about 5:30 p.m. ET each day. There’s a logjam full of logjams.
After last week’s racing was completed at Turfway Park, the race for the Trainer’s Title at this year’s annual Holiday Meet looked more like a mad rush to the outlet malls. Mass chaos from a mass of people.
After all. Just cosnider:
Four trainers are tied at the top of the current Turfway Park rankings with 3 wins apiece.
Seven more trainers are just a win back with 2 wins apiece.
And, get this:
Thirty-eight different trainers have one win apiece. That’s 38.
That will mean one heck of a race to the wire to win this year’s title at the current meet, which will run through the end of December. So far, the leaders are Ken McPeek, Wesley Ward, Kim Hammond and Ronald G. Brown — all of whom have made 3 visits to the cozy confines of the winner’s circle.
Just a win back, though, are the likes of Larry Rivelli, Mike Maker, J. Larry Jones, Genaro Garcia, William Morey, Rey Hernandez, and Ron Moquett.
Needless to say, this is a race that is much too close to call. And, probably will go down to the wire.
