(Brad Cox sits atop the Trainer’s Standings at the Fair Grounds)
It didn’t take long. Brad Cox, who has been on an absolute tear as a young trainer for well over the past year now, continues to show he has a good eye, hand and way when it comes to all kinds of Thoroughbred horses. Most of all, he definitely knows when to run them; knows where to run them; and knows how to win with them.
After Sunday’s racing action was concluded, Cox has swept to the top of the leader board in the race for the Trainer’s Title in the Big Easy. After his first 71 starts, Cox has amassed an impressive record of 22 wins, 9 seconds and 11 thirds. His win percentage sits at a lofty .31%, and his rate of horses finishing in the money is at a high-water mark of .59%.
All told, Cox’s horses have already earned over $640,000 in purse money, too.
The second leading trainer, in terms of wins, is Lexington, KY. native Joe Sharp, who has 19 of them, along with 10 seconds and 13 thirds in 73 starts. The second leading trainer in terms of purses earned is Al Stall, who has a record of 14-14-6 in 68 starts and earning of $581,296.
