Churchill Downs Racetrack announced today a lineup of festivities for Thurby presented by Old Forester. This year’s Thurby, on Thursday, April 29, will continue the tradition of celebrating the best of Kentucky including culture, fare and live racing.
The event highlights will include a day of music that celebrates the Commonwealth, including a collaboration with musician and Kentucky native Ben Sollee. Other Pagoda performances, scheduled between live races, will feature Scott T. Smith, Zaniah and Abby Hamilton. Guests will enjoy Kentucky-inspired cuisine offered throughout the racetrack and can sip the Official Thurby Cocktail, The Old Forester Old Fashioned while watching 11 thrilling Thoroughbred races including the Unbridled Sidney and Opening Verse Overnight Stakes. A special-edition sticker designed by local Louisville artist Bri Bowers will allow guests to take the spirit of Thurby home.
“Thurby has quickly become one of the most treasured traditions of Kentucky Derby Week,” Churchill Downs Racetrack President Mike Anderson said. “It is the opportunity to celebrate what makes Kentucky, and the people in it, so unique and special. This year, we have creatively designed live entertainment throughout the racing schedule so guests can enjoy the day of festivities from their reserved seats.”
Tickets to Thurby can be purchased at https://www.kentuckyderby.com/visit/derby-week/thurby. Reserved seats starts at $60 and include food and non-alcoholic beverages. Limited General Admission tickets with no seat will be sold on the day of the event at the Churchill Downs Ticket Office for only $40, which will also include food and non-alcoholic beverages for the day.
