And, the race is on. Full bore. Full tilt. Full field. And, full of interest.

The race for the Trainer’s Title at Ellis Park’s on-going Summer Meet is tighter than a deer tick on your dog’s belly; closer than a sunburn on your summer skin…well, you get the idea.

After Sunday’s races were completed, there were seven trainers — count ’em, seven — within two wins of the lead as we head into the home stretch of the abbreviated meet at the ole’ “Pea Patch.”

Dane Kobiskie, who has 6 wins to date, still maintains a one-win edge over Kentucky veteran Angel Montano, Sr. and John Ortiz. But just a couple of wins off the lead are Brad Cox, D. Wayne Lukas, Ken McPeek and Ron Moquett.

It adds up to a sprint to the wire. All out drive.
