It might not yet be considered a runaway win. It might not yet qualify as a blowout. It might be a stretch to say that Albin Jimenez is going to win the Turfway Park Holiday Meet Jockey’s Title by the length of the stretch.
But, on the other hand, it might not be too soon to “call the race,” either.
After Saturday night’s racing was concluded, and as we all head into the final couple of weeks of this abbreviated meet, Albin Jimenez is standing tall in the saddle and the standings. And, of course, all alone in the quest to win another riding championship in Northern Kentucky.
So far this meet, Jimenez has ridden 40 horses. He has compiled an impressive resume of 9 wins, 6 seconds and 2 thirds. His win percentage is a lofty .23%, and his horses have hit the board on .43% of the time.
In addition, Jimenez’ mounts have amassed over $174,000 in purses won — which tops the list, as well.
Four wins back and off the pace is Josephy Ramos, who has tallied 5 wins, 4 seconds and 7 thirds in just 26 rides, so far. While his win percentage is at .19%, Ramos’ horses have finished first, second or third on .62% of the time. That’s wow time.
Another win back and in third place in the rider’s standings are Luan Machado and Joe Rocco, Jr.. Machado has a 4-3-3- mark in 27 mounts, while Rocco has a 4-0-2 mark in just 18 mounts so far this meet.
