(First Kiss in her stall at Tampa Bay Downs after her career debut)

As you know if you visit this site, I travelled down to Tampa on Friday to watch our filly, First Kiss, make her  career debut in a MSW event at Tampa Bay Downs. Despite the fact that Allegiant Air thought it better to be late at every turn and I arrived at the track as the horses were headed back to the barn after the race (more on that later), I did get to watch the race on my favorite ADW platform, TwinSpires.com, as my good friend, Rob Murphy drove to the track.

As I told everyone since, it was better that I arrive late and the filly run great than the other way around.

And, First Kiss certainly ran well. At a distance that may not be her optimum, and on a track surface that may not be her optimum, First Kiss ran a huge second — beating the prohibitive 2-5 favorite by over 7 lengths. On the gallop out, she easily moved past the winner and she came back to the barn better than ever.

Along with my partners — Mike Schnell and trainer Stephen Lyster — we are more excited than ever about First Kiss, a 4YO daughter of Smart Strike from the same female family that has produced the great runner and sire, Tiznow.

Here are a few pictures of the grand-looking girl after the race. And, we will keep our fingers crossed for more good luck with her in about a month.

(Congratulations to the pretty girl)

Thanks to Rob Murphy for all his kindness during the visit, and serving as our newest “staff photographer.”
