
The Breeders’ Cup Championships are some of the best Thoroughbred races in the entire world. For a full year, racing fans await for the glamour and the glory. It is the epitome of racing.
On Tuesday, the epitome of Thoroughbred sales returns. While there may still be a few cobwebs and hanging overs, the sales ring shall replace the racing oval. While some of the world’s top owners are looking to restock and restore, the sound of the auctioneer is ready to resound.
On Tuesday, the racing world will turn to the sales universe — Keeneland.
Keeneland has cataloged 4,147 horses for its 2017 November Breeding Stock Sale, the world’s largest and most important sale of its kind, to be held Nov. 7-18. Headlining the catalog are champion Stellar Wind and multiple Grade 1 stakes winner Lady Eli, both entered in the Breeders’ Cup World Championships on Friday and Saturday at Del Mar; while other offerings include the first weanlings to represent Triple Crown winner American Pharoah, the first mares in foal to two-time Horse of the Year California Chrome and a selection of horses of racing age.
Horses cataloged to the sale include 2,037 broodmares and broodmare prospects, 1,683 weanlings, 425 horses of racing age and two stallions. The auction includes the dispersals of Pauls Mill (Ben and Elaine Walden et al) and McCauley Farms, for which Paramount Sales will serve as agent. The Pauls Mill dispersal consists of 43 horses, including broodmares, weanlings and horses of racing age. The McCauley Farms dispersal has 27 broodmares and weanlings.
The sale’s first two sessions on Nov. 7-8 comprise the premier Book 1 catalog with sessions beginning at 11 a.m. ET.
Books 2-6 on Thursday-Sunday, Nov. 9-18, begin at 10 a.m.

TVG2 will have live coverage of the opening Book 1 session on Nov. 7 from 11-11:30 a.m. ET and noon-5:30 p.m, and on Nov. 8 from 11 a.m.-12:30 p.m.
