Keeneland’s annual September Yearling Sale hit another high water mark on Thursday, when — with the sale of Hip 3313 — the gross sales for the mammoth auction exceeded the $300,000,000 level.  It marked the first time since 2008 that the Keeneland September Sales had exceeded that mark.

And, here’s the good news.  Thursday was just Day 10 of the 12-day sale.

With two sessions still left to go, Keeneland has already sold 2,261 yearlings for $304,265,700. That amounts to an average of $134,571, and a median price of $75,000.  On Thursday alone, the sales company sold 255 yearlings for a total of $6,557,100, which added up to an average of $25,714 and a median price of $15,000.

The highest priced yearling to sell on Thursday was a colt by the newly minted stallion Violence and was consigned by Village View Farm, as agent.  The colt is out of the winning City Zip mare All About Allison and is a half-brother to the Stakes-placed All Blue.  The colt was purchased by Wave’s Bloodstock.

Superfine Farms spent $160,000 to purchase a colt by Fed Biz.  The colt, consigned by Stuart Morris as agent, is out of the Congrats mare Virtuously and comes from the female family of Canadian champ Larkwhistle.

The September Sale continues through Saturday, with sessions beginning at 10 a.m. ET each day.
