Eric Reed on running Kentucky Derby winner Rich Strike in Breeders’ Cup Classic: ‘Richie deserves the chance to run against these type of horses’

Lava Man gets last hurrah – ponying Hot Rod Charlie to the Breeders’ Cup Classic starting gate — before retiring for a second time, this time to Old Friends in Georgetown, Ky. Trainer Doug O’Neill and Old Friends’ Michael Blowen talk about the amazing 21-year-old horse.

Wesley Ward on two-time Breeders’ Cup turf sprint (Juvenile in 2020 and against older horses last year) champion Golden Pal, who will make his career finale Saturday at Keeneland. A win will make him only the third horse to win three Breeders’ Cup races.

Mike Maker on his Breeders’ Cup contingent. He trains five of the 16 Breeders’ Cup entrants who ran at Kentucky Downs in 2022.

Jason Cook is in the Breeders’ Cup for the first time with horse he claimed for $40,000, Three Technique – who gave the trainer the thrill of his racing career when winning the $175,000 Knicks Go overnight stakes on Derby Day at 36-1 odds.
