(Leslie’s Rose owners celebrate after Friday’s G1 win in the Ashland Stakes / Photos by Coady Photography)

From the KY HBPA Media Team / Jennie Rees:

Leslie’s Rose defeated 2-year-old filly champ Just F Y I by three lengths in Keeneland’s opening-day, $600,000, Grade 1 Ashland Stakes, a leading prep for the Kentucky Oaks. We speak with winning trainer Todd Pletcher and owner Mandy Pope, who paid $1.15 million for the daughter of Into Mischief as a yearling. We also hear from Bill Mott, trainer of Just F Y I, who was making her first start since winning the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies on Nov. 3 after missing a scheduled start in Gulfstream Park’s March 2 Davona Dale with a temperature.
Also on Keeneland’s opening-day card:
Red White and Blue Racing’s Neat ($28.82) wins $400,000, G3 Transylvania for 3-year-olds on grass by a nose under Reylu Gutierrez. We speak with Red White and Blue’s Randy Gullat and winning trainer Rob Atras, who won his first race at Keeneland. (Sorry about the water spot or light spot on Atras’ face. Interview was moved into tunnel because of rain and I didn’t see it while videoing).
