(Sports coat donated by Hall of Fame rider Mike Smith)
The day has arrived.
Tonight, beginning at 6 p.m. ET, interested parties will be able to call-in and bid on many prestigious items that have been donated to the first Louisville Thoroughbred Society Holiday Auction “Coats for Coats” — which 100% of the proceeds this year will go to support the Backside Learning Center at Churchill Downs.
LTS Members, Guests, and Investors — who will be attending a special Holiday “Open House” — will also be able to bid on location and in-person.
Just a couple of weeks ago, Churchill Downs announced that it was going to keep the backside open all winter to assist the horsemen and horsewomen who train and run at Turfway Park. As a result, many workers who normally travel to Southern locations for the winter are now going to be calling Louisville home for the coldest months of the year.
In order to assist those people with this transition, we will be providing needed funding to the Backside Learning Center, which can help with clothing, food, and other essentials for every day life.
Here is a list of the items to be auctioned tonight. If you are interested in bidding, please call either of these two phone numbers after 6 p.m. ET:
Ask for the LTS Auction Center. Either I or someone else will answer your call and take your bid.
If you are the top bidder at the end of the auction, which will be 8:30 p.m. ET, we will call you and collect your credit card information immediately. Please be prepared for that event.
We will be updating this site every five minutes throughout the auction time period. These updates will have the highest bid name and amount. If you are not the highest bidder and wish to bid again, please do so immediately.
If you wish to leave your telephone number and want us to text you if you are no longer the high bid, we can do that, as well. You will need to leave you cell number and name with us at that time.
