(Gene and Ed in the Churchill Downs paddock last November)
We started yesterday like a $5,000 claimer. Not very good.
We finished Friday’s card like a Stakes winner. On a real roll.
If not for the DQ in the 6th, we would have swept the last 4 on the card and we closed out the day cashing Exactas for $31.10, $52.50, and $62.50 for each $1 played in the last three races. Add in the $41.80 Exacta we cash in the 4th, and it was a rather handsome, sunny day.
We are having to scratch our picks for today, I am sorry to report. Late yesterday, we had some unexpected oral surgery that rendered us a bit woozy. Recovering is not easy at my age these days.

So, instead, drawing in from the Also-Eligible List is my great friend and fantastic handicapper Ed DeRosa, a friend of this blog’s on many occasions. Not only is Ed a truly wonderful human, but he is a tremendous handicapper as the Director of Marketing for Brisnet.com.
I will try to be back tomorrow. Until then, enjoy.
Here’s a closer look at Ed’s picks for today:
