Editor’s Note:

We are still looking for our first win of the 2026 campaign for our “Donation Play of the Day” at Horseshoe Indianapolis. That’s truly sad, I have to admit.

But…

Things are looking up, I hope.

Our last pick, Captain Shagaf, nearly pulled off the upset victory and still return a hefty profit for the runner-up spot at odds of 8-to-1. That $150.00 return upped our annual contribution to $202.20 — so far.

And…

We are hoping to build on that total today. We will bet another $25 across the board today on Rigoberto (8) in the 7th race. If he holds steady at odds of 3-1 — or even drifts up the ladder, a bit — this could be a nice return, as well.

At the end of the meet, we are still hoping to exceed last year’s total of $1,500 — and all the proceeds will be donated to the Homeless Veterans of Indianapolis to assist all those heroes that need our love, help and attention.

This is a special and annual commitment from Horseshoe Indianapolis and Vice President and GM for Racing — Eric Halstrom. I hope we can help just a little in this worthy effort.
