(Stats to be updated after Ellis Park’s card on Friday)

Here’s our looks at the ole’ “Pea Patch” on this Saturday morn and afternoon:

st: 3-2/1-4/6-5…Lamasco (3) gets the nod in the ole’ lid-lifter at the ole’ “Pea Patch” on this Saturday celebration. This 4YO filly wont the last time out here on Aug. 1. Ran off to a 8+ length win on that day. Now, this one shows back up with a good shot to make it back-to-back. Barn has won with .19% of the last 83 to win the next one after a victory. Stretches out here, too, and the barn wins with .18% of the last 17 to do that. Little Dixie (2) goes for a barn that has won with 4 of 11 here this meet. This one has won two in a row, including one here on June 11. That was over a wet-fast track. Loses the last condition and will face tougher here. I bet the 3 across the board and then box the 3-2 in the exactas. I will key the 3-2 over/under the 1-4-6-5 in two smaller units.

nd: 7/5-3/8/1/6/2/4…The first Key Play of the Day comes here with Chiseler (7). This 3YO son of Speightstown won a Stakes event here last time out and now drops back to the allowance ranks. Barn and rider are holding their own here this meet, and they look very formidable in this spot. I bet the 7 across the board and then double down on the win wager. I will key the 7 over/under the 5-3-8-1-6 in the exactas. More with the 5-3 than the rest.

rd: 4-2-3/6/1/5/7…Scrupulous (4) gets the nod in this 2YO filly sprint. This daughter of City of Light sold for $300,000 at the 2022 KEE September Yearling Sale. Has worked very well for the first start and this train does win with .16% of the last 99 to make the career debut. Rider does well for this barn, too. Cruise Missile (2) should benefit from the first race and the barn wins with .11% on the 2nd ask. Rider is inching back into contention after a tough start to the meet. Brunch Punch (3) goes for the Brad Cox barn, and it is winning with .34% of the first 38 starts here this meet. That’s enough to put this one in the mix. I bet the 4-3 across the board and then box the top 3 in the exactas. I will key the 4 over/under the 2-3-6-1-5-7 in two smaller units.

th: 7-6-4/1-5/3//2…Carmichael (7) is a 6YO gelding, and has only won 1 of the last 11 starts. But this one falls to a career-low price tag here after a debacle last time out. Race two back is good enough to win this one, though. One more chance. Money Run (6) has 2 wins in the last 11 and ran OK here on June 15. That was off a layoff and gets another vacation break here in this one, too. Has speed to be dangerous over this track. Camp Daddy (4) goes for a top barn, which is winning at a .22% rate this meet after 9 starts. Comes in off a huge win, when claimed. New Trainer wins with .28% of the last 78 to make the first start for his barn after a purchase. I bet the 7-4 across the board and then box the top 3 numbers in the exactas. I will key the top 3 numbers over/under the 1-5 in two smaller units.

th: 6-1-4/8/3-5-2/7…Hurry Hurry (6) threw a clunker here on June 30, but before that won impressively here on June 11. First win may have been too good to expect again, but the last out was too bad to expect again, too. I like this one to rebound and be a tough out here. Deep State (1) has a win over this track before trying the sod here on July 23. Gets back to dirt here and the barn wins with .24% of the last 21 to get this surface switch. Rider is 1-for-29 this meet. Ugh. Princely (4) ran a huge 2nd here last time out and if this guy can repeat that effort? Will be a tough out. I bet the 6 across the board and then box the top 3 in the exactas. I will key the top 3 numbers over/under the 8 in two smaller units.

th: (15)-11-7-5/1-(13)-4-10/8-12-(14)/2-3…This is a grass sprint for the 2YO colts and the leading candidate for me is on the AE List — Runnin’ Rocket (15). Probably won’t draw into this one, but nearly won the debut here on July 15 when rained off the sod. If this one gets in? Def use for me. Clovis (11) is a first timer from the barn of Brad Cox for the high-powered ownership group at Juddmonte. Son of Into Mischief is sitting on go. Ready. Aim. I bet the 15 or the 11 across the board and then double down on the win wager. I will key the 15 or 11 over/under the 7-5-1-13-4-10-8-12 in the exactas. More with the 7-5-1 than the rest.

th: 1-9/4-5-2-11/8/10/6/7…Fashion King (1) is a son of City of Light and has been inching forward since beginning the career last year. Should benefit from the race here on July 14. If he does? Look out. Just look out. I bet the 1 across the board and then box the 1-9 in the exactas. I will key the 1-9 over/under the 4-5-2-11-8-10 in two smaller units.

th: 1-2/7/3-4/5/6-9/8…This is a 11/4-mile marathon over the sod and I will return to the rail and go with Whenthedawnbreaks (1). This 4YO daughter of Ghostzapper would be a nice one to have in the broodmare band someday in the future. But for now, this one is coming off two nice runs in 2022. Trainer knows how to get them ready and this one should be there — even at this extreme distance. Leopardess (2) gets my betting dollars here. Take note. This one has 2 runs this year and that conditioning just has to help. Trainer is having another great year, winning at a .25% rate after the first 95 starts. Does well with his sod runners, too. I bet the 2 — take note — to win/place/show and then double down on the win wager. I will box the 1-2 solidly in the exactas. I will key the 1-2 over/under the 7-3-4-5-6-9 in two smaller units.

th: (11)-(12)/6/3-2-8/7-5-10//1-4-9…The day’s finale is another 5.5-furlong sprint over the sod and I will go to the AE List for my top 2 picks. If either — or both — draw into this field? I use. Definitely. Use. If not? I will single and Key Play of the Day with Little Jewel (6). This 5YO Liam’s Map mare has run in four straight Stakes. won one at Gulfstream Park. Will close with a rush, too. Rider is more than cold, though, winning just 1 of 29 this meet. Ugh. I bet the 11-12 across the board and box them if either or both draw in from the AE List. If not, I will bet the 6 across the board and double down on the win wager. I will key the 6 over/under the 3-2-8-7-5-10 in the exactas. More with the 3-2-8 than the rest.
