Stats Are Completely Updated

Here’s our looks at the ole’ “Pea Patch” to start this week of racing action on Friday. Thanks to Facebook fan Kenneth Miller for pointing out that there is no Thursday racing this week, and we begin on Frida…

st : 7-5-3/6-8/2-4/1…Eternally Grateful (7) gets the nod in the ole’ lid-lifter down at the ole’ “Pea Patch” on this Thursday kick-start to the racing week. This 3YO gelded son of American Freedom comes in off a claim at $20,000. Finished a respectable 4th in that one. New barn drops off the claim and wins with .23% on first start in the new barn and with .28% when dropping in the asking price, too. Gets a hot rider for these parts and should be a tough out here. Returns as a beaten favorite. Lots to like. I bet the 7 across the board and then box the top 3 numbers in the exactas. I will key the 7-5-3 over/under the 6-8 in two smaller units.

nd: 6-4/1-2-3/5-7…Hard Rye Guy (6) is a 5YO son of Hard Spun, and I have played this one numerous times in the past. Has just 2 wins in 25 starts, but does have 5 runner-ups and 2 more thirds on the resume. Drops to a much lower asking price here and the only previous time at this number? Won by easy lengths. New rider could help this chore. I bet the 6 across the board and then box the 6-4 in the exactas. I will key the 6-4 over/under the 1-2-3-5-7 in two smaller units.

rd: 3-1-5/8//2-4/6-7…Race Driver (3) was claimed last time out for $16,000. That was back in May. Makes first start for the new barn here, and the new connections win with just .08% of the last 157 to make the barn debut. Gets a new rider and should fit here. Sharp work on July 5. I bet the 3 across the board and then box the top 3 numbers in the exactas. I will key those 3 numbers over/under the 8 in two smaller units.

th: 8-5-9/(10)/3/4/2-6-7/1…This is the 2nd grass race of the day and this one will be contested at the 1-mile distance for the MSW level. I go with Legal Titan (8) here. This one ran a huge 2nd last time out at Horseshoe Indianapolis. Just caught at the end of that one. Stretches out to a mile here and the barn wins with .20% on the 2nd grass start and with .11% of the last 19 to make the first route trip. Company You Keep (5) will make the first start here and this 2YO son of Audible looks well prepared. Sharp work on July 7 and the barn wins with .10% when debuting on the sod. Nice rider choice. Generous Tipper (9) has a shot in the debut race here, too. Barn does not do exceeding well with first timers, but this one has a very sharp work on July 8 and the pedigree to handle this nicely. I bet the 8 across the board and then box the top 3 numbers in the exactas. I will key the top 3 over/under the 3-4 in two smaller units. If it comes off the grass, the key goes to the MTO runner — #10.

th: 3-7/5/4-8-2/1/6…Bourbon Fever (3) looks solid in this spot. Was claimed two back and ran well against tougher last time out. Gets the blinkers here and the barn wins with just .07% of the last 27 to add the shades. Better yet, the rider choice is solid. Could be a tough out here. Bandon (7) is our first Upset Alert. This one is rated 12-1 by Brisnet.com in the ML, but ran well before spitting the bit last time out. Troubles in that debut. Drops to the MCL here and the barn wins with .33% of the last 166 to make this plunge. I bet the 3-7 across the board and I will double down on the win wager with the 7. Take note. I will box those two solidly in the exactas. And, I will key the 3-7 over/under the 5-4-8-2 in two smaller units.

th: 5/(10)/1-2-3-7-8/4-9//6…The first Key Play of the Day comes here with Ham Sandwich (1) if this one stays on the sod. This 2YO son of Heart to Heart ran OK in the debut up at “The Shoe,” and ow returns for the 2nd career race. This barn wins with .16% of the last 177 to make the 2nd start. Clever veteran gets the mount and he has gone 2-0-2 in the last 10 here. Looks salty in this spot. I bet the 5 across the board and then double down on the win wager. I will key the 5 over/under the 1-2-37-8-4-9 in the exactas. More with the 1-2-3-7-8 than the rest. If it rains off the grass? I go with the #10 as the key here.

th: 1/7-4/3-6//2-5…The second Key Play of the Day comes here with the railbird Insignia (1). This one has not been out since July 2022 at Saratoga. Long time between sips of water. For. Sure. But? This one has run three good ones in the career and is training lights out fort the best trainer in the game today. Has faced some good ones. Looks ready to roll here. I bet the 1 across the board and then double down on the win wager. Triple down, too. Why not. I key the 1 over/under the 7-4-3-6 in the exactas. More with the 7-4 than the others.

th: 1/7/5-6/2-4/3…The third Key Play of the Day in a row and i line up with other rail king in Fashion King (1). This 3YO son of City of Light has not been out since last November. And, will get Lasix for the first time. Training great for the return and gets a hot rider for the assignment. Has faced the likes of Raised Cain and Arabian Knight in the first two. Heady company. None of those kind in here. Look out. Look. Out. I bet the 1 across the board and double/triple/quadruple down on the win wager. I will key the 1 over/under the 7-5-6-2-4 in the exactas. More with the 7 than the rest.

th: 8-11-2/4-5-9/(13)-(12)/1-7-10//3…The day’s finale is the last grass race of the afternoon, as well. This is a 1-mile sod event for some solid mares and fillies and I go with Dragonera (8) in my Upset Special of the Day. This gal is listed at 6-1 in the ML and I would love to grab those headlines. This one is a homebred of Godolphin Stables and has just won the last two before shipping in here. Top grass rider in these parts takes the reins. Lots to like. Under One Sky (11) has faced tougher and should appreciate this class relief. Gets a good gate rider up here and that could help. Reagan’s Decision (2) is another long-shot possible. This one didn’t run a step after spitting the bit midway through the last time. But that was last October. Trained well for the return by a top trainer, who merits consideration. Love the rider back up here. I bet the 8-2 across the board — take note — and double down on the win wager with the #2. I will box the top 3 numbers in the exactas. I will also key the 8-2 over/under the 11-4-5-9 in two smaller units. If it comes off the grass, I go to the 13 as the key with the 12.
