Here’s our looks at the action at Horseshoe Indianapolis on Monday:
st: 2-4-3/1-5/8/6-7…Jova (2) gets the call in the ole’ lid-lifter at “The Shoe” in Indy. This 7YO gelding has raced over this strip a whopping 31 times already. Has a mark of 8-7-6 in those trips. Nice. Gets a hot rider, and gets back to only Indy-breds here. Should fit nicely with this drop in class. Bandido de Amores (4) has raced here 33 times previously. He is 5-6-7 in the resume. Won here in August of 2021. Should improve off the 2022 debut on June 11. Trainer is having a solid meet with a .12% win rate. Maters N Taters (3) may spike up the odds rack a bit, at 8-1 in the ML. Comes off a Stakes race in the slop here on June 8. Gets into the claiming ranks for the first time in awhile. Should be a threat here. I bet the 2-3 across the board and then box the top 3 in the exactas. I will key the top 3 numbers over/under the 1-5 in two smaller units.
nd: 7-10/1-4-8-9/5/2-3//6…West Coast Justice (7) will make the first start for the new barn after being claimed last time out for this same price tag. Ran a very nice 2nd in that one. New barn wins with a whopping .36% in the last 22 to make the first start for the new trainer. Figures here, despite a 1-for-10 record here. Sister Justice (10) moves up in class after a 2nd run last time out at the “bargain bin” level. New rider still has the weight allowance and that could help this one again. Threat. I bet the 7 across the board and then box the 7-10 in the exactas. I will key the 7-10 over/under the 1-4-8-9-5 in two smaller units.
rd: 6/9-7-4/3-8/2-5/1…The first “Key Play of the Day” comes here with Timeless Glory (6). This 4YO filly has a 2-3-2 record in 13 starts here and may get a dry track after the 2022 debut in the slop. Trainer has won with .21% of 102 starts this year. Should start to improve over this strip, too. I bet the 6 across the board and then key the 6 over/under the 9-7-4-3-8 in the exactas. More with the 9-7-4 than the rest.
th: 1-5/8-2-3/4-9/10/6-7…Uncle Headley (1) goes for the 2nd time in the career and the son of Oscar Performance should love the grass. Found the late stages of the debut a little rough, and now shows up here where he can run on the Lasix. Gets it too. Should help. Bourbon Therapy (5) ran a very nice 2nd here last time out over the sod. Could improve with the 2nd time with blinkers, too. I bet the 1 across the board and then box the 1-5 in the exactas. I will key the 1-5 over/under the 8-2-3-4-9 in two smaller units.
th: 10-7/4-3/2-9/6-8/5/1…Manuelito (10) has been outstanding this year with a 1-2-0 mark in 4 starts. Nearly won a Stakes here last time out in the slop. Rider has been a bit chilly this meet, winning only .05% of the time after 84 mounts. But this one will be coming late. Just needs a little luck to go his way. Rockin All Night (7) was a very nice 2nd last time out, too, and is another who will run best and most in the stretch time. Gets the meet’s top rider up and this could spell the distance. Take note. I bet the 10-7 across the board and then box these two sternly in the exactas. I will key the 10-7 over/under the 4-3-2-9 in two smaller units.
th: 4/2/1-3/5/7-8/(9)-(10)…The next “Key Play of the Day” comes here with Golden Voice (4). This 4Yo filly comes in off back-to-back wins for a trainer who has won 1 of 2 here this meet. Gerts a top rider, who is winning at a .28% rate this meet after 68 starts. In 4 races at this distance and over the sod? Two wins and a third. Adds up for me. I bet the 4 across the board and double down on the win bet. I will key the 4 over/under the 2-1-3-5 in the exactas. More with the 2 than the rest.
th: 8/10/2-5-6/3-7/4-9/11-1…The third “Key Play of the Day” comes here with Faire Express (8). This 3YO Unbridled Express filly returns as a beaten favorite and the barn wins with .25% of the last 68 of those kind. Has raced twice so far. Has finished second twice thus far. Comes running. Needs a little cleaner path in the final strides. May have found the right bunch here. But? The rider is 0-for-33 here this meet. Ugh. I bet the 8 across the board and then key the 8 over/under the 10-2-5-6-3-7 in the exactas. I will use more with the 10 than the rest.
th: 4-3/9-6/5/7/1-2-8…This is the finale of the Thoroughbred events and I will ante up with Rocky Rush (4) in this spot. This one has hit the board in each of the last 3 outings and was 2nd at this same level last time out. In 11 starts here over the sod, he has a 2-4-2 mark. Nice. Trainer knows her way around these parts, too. Rider has won with .20% of the 15 mounts for the barn. My pick. Alfons Walde (3) may be the horse to beat. This one drops significantly in class for this one after a 3rd last time out. But that was last November. Rider comes in from Lou for the mount. Chance. I bet the 4 across the board and then box the 4-3 in the exactas. I will key the 4-3 over/under the 9-6-5-7 in two smaller units.
th: 9/1-6/5-7/2/3/4-8…The final “Key Play of the Day” comes in the Quarter Horse event and will the far outside entry of Magnanni (9). If this one does not break to the outside and runs a straight course, he could be a tough out for a top QH trainer. This will be the 2022 debut and the Oklahoma-bred has been training well for this outing. I bet the 9 across the board and then key the 9 over/under the 1-6-5-7-2 in the exactas. More with the 1-6 than the rest.
Good Luck & All the Best / Gene
