McLean’s Shopping Cart: Fasig-Tipton’s Horses of Racing Age Sale On Monday, July 8

It’s just a day away. Fast-Tipton’s July Horses of Racing Age Sale. Christmas in July.

What a nice addition to the Summer Sales-a-Fun. Horses with some run. Horses with some family. Horses with some future. Horses with a chance.

Great day to stroll around the ole’ ball yard and take a look to see if there are some additions to the stable that can be had, and some possible future broodmares that can be added.

My Top Hips to take a gander at are:

427 — Biddy Duke. She has shown some speed. And, the dam has a chance to be OK. Still developing.

446 — Copper Town. What happens if this one can win a Graded Stakes or 2? Stud duty somewhere, I imagine. Upside.

483 — Holly Dolly Molly. Lot of pedigree here.

521 — Orbulation. Has the race record to be a broodmare right now, and I just love Jack Milton.

576 — New Frontier. Another that has the page to support him in the future if he could win a Stakes event or two.

585 — Trace. May be the top page in the sale. Must see, for me.

The horse broke well today,” Gaffalione said. “I had the horse inside, Dunph, going to the lead and then (Gun It) showed a little bit of speed. When I saw they were intent on going I just tried to get him back and got him to relax. He came back to me nicely and settled well down the backside. Got a little keen going into the far turn and wanted to move a little early. But I didn’t want to take too much away from him so I tried to sit as long as I could. He was waiting on horses down the lane but I kept him at task and there was plenty of horse there.”

“Mark (Casse, the trainer) and his team have done a great job,” Gaffalione said. “They’ve had a ton of confidence in this horse the whole way. It’s just an honor to be able to ride the horse. He’s just so professional, trains great and he’s a pleasure to be around.”
