We had a great KY Derby Week. Not good, mind you. Great.

We celebrated great weather with great friends at the great Churchill Downs and the greatest club ever — the Louisville Thoroughbred Society.

And, it was rather rewarding from the pari-mutuel side of the equation, as well.

On KY Oaks Day, we had 5 winners and 8 exactas — including the whopping $201.47 payoff for each $1 played correctly on the KY Oaks. We also played the winner of the Oaks across the board and that turned every, simple $6 investment into $40.24.

Nice day.

On KY Derby Day, we managed only 3 winners out of the 14 races. Ouch. Sorry. But? There’s always a “but,” right? In this case, it is a good one. After we started the day with the disappointing and devastating news that our top pick — Forte — was going to be scratched, but rebounded. Remarkably.

While our “Key Plays” only rendered 1 winner, they still managed two more 2nds and another 3rd.

While our top pick only won 3 races, we managed 8 exactas.

And, we hit the Pick 5 finishing with the KY Derby — that rendered a hefty $17,500+ for every .50-ticket you played. We played more than one.

Sweet day at the ole’ ball yard.
