With a name like Heavenly Love, what did your really expect? Seriously? Nothing short of a miracle, right? Nothing short of sheer beauty, correct? Nothing short of divine intervention.

Today, Heavenly Love — which we all could truly use a dose of these days — will kick off the Breeders’ Cup Saturday race card in the Juvenile Fillies division. And, she will be looking to win her third straight race and her second consecutive Grade 1 victory for owners John and Debby Oxley.

Today, Heavenly Love will try to prove that the Midwest’s best is better than the West Coast’s best in the undefeated Moonshine Memories and Alluring Star.

Today, she will try to stamp her pedigree as one of the best of this year’s young and restless group of 2YOs. And, it is not a bad pedigree to start with, mind you.

You start with the fact that Heavenly Love is by the popular stallion Malibu Moon, a son of the great A.P. Indy. Already in his distinguished career at stud, Malibu Moon has been among the leading sires on three occasions. As the sire of 15 crops to date, he has sired 104 stakes winners, 1 champion and 922 winners.

The champion son is none other that Declan’s Moon, who won the G1 Hollywood Futurity. His most famous son, though, just may be Orb, who won the G1 Kentucky Derby and is now off to a grand start at stud in his own right. His son Stanford, who over $1.3 million. His daughter Carina Mia, who is in today’s Filly & Mare Sprint, is a multiple G1 winner already. The list goes on and on.

Simply put, Heavenly Love has a powerful father.

Yet, her mother is no slouch either. Darling My Darling, by the great Deputy Minister, had 5 wins from 2 to 4 and won over $350,000. She won both the Doubledogdare and the Raven Run Stakes at Keeneland and was second in both the G1 Frizette Stakes and the G1 Matron. She could run.

And, already to date, Darling My Darling is producing runners, too. Her daughter Forever Darling, by Congras and a half-sister to Heavenly Love, is a winner at both 2 and 3 and champion of the G2 Santa Ynez Stakes.

If that is not enough to stamp this page legit, the second dam is Roamin Rachel, by Mining, who won 9 times in 15 starts and over $528,000 in a stellar racing career that included wins in the G1 Ballerina, the G2 Beaumont and the G3 Brown & Williamson.

Now, Heavenly Love has a chance to push the page even farther; even better. And, she has the running credentials to do just exactly that.  She comes into today’s 11/16-mile test off two straight victories.

One of them was over the demanding 6F grass course of the unusual hills and dales of Kentucky Downs. She won that one by 5 lengths. Impressive.

The second was in the 11/16-mile G1 Alcibiades Stakes at Keeneland — on the dirt and in her first try around two turns. She won that one by 51/2 lengths. Impressive.

Today, she will face some of the world’s best 2YO fillies.  There is Moonshine Memories, who is undefeated in three races and has already won twice over this track. Another daughter of Malibu Moon, as well. There is a third daughter, as well, in Maya Malibu. There is Alluring Star, trained by the great Bob Baffert, who has been putting long breezes into his star pupil to try and extend her endurance. And, there are many other capable ones in this field of 13.

And, one of those of the most capable is Heavenly Love. Whom, may just open up the skies and eyes today.
