Santa Anita Park will open for its 83rd Winter Meeting on Thursday, Dec. 26 and in addition to world class racing, fans will again be treated to the track’s popular traditional wall calendar, free with paid admission. Replete with tremendous photos, this year’s calendar theme is Thoroughbred Aftercare, which includes re-training and re-homing, assisted by the Santa Anita-based California Retirement Management Account (CARMA).
Special early first post time for an outstanding opening day card that will be highlighted by the Grade I, $300,000 Malibu and the Grade I, $300,000 La Brea Stakes, is at 11:30 a.m., with admission gates opening at 9:30 a.m.
Horsemen are advised that Santa Anita’s Winter Meet Condition Book One is now available online and in-person. Book One encompasses the first three racing weeks and in addition to the Malibu and La Brea, the opening day program will also feature a pair of Grade II stakes, including the $200,000 San Antonio.
Other highlights include Santa Anita’s final Grade I offering of 2019, the $300,000 American Oaks for 3-year-old fillies at a mile and one quarter on turf, Saturday, Dec. 28.
Fans are advised that Santa Anita will again offer free General Admission and parking to its spacious Infield Area on opening day and all weekends, weather permitting. The Infield is best accessed via Gate 6 off of Colorado Place.

–2020 SANTA ANITA WALL CALENDAR, free with paid admission while supplies last. This year’s calendar theme is Thoroughbred Aftercare and is complemented by tremendous full color photos.
–BEER & CIDER TRACKSIDE FESTIVAL. General and VIP packages available online. Buy online early and save with special discounted pre-sale rates available through December 16.
–“WHISKEY IN WINTER” CHANDELIER ROOM PARTY. Whiskey tastings, live music and full bar. Upgrade to a blue chip buffet which includes a guaranteed seat for the day in the Chandelier Room. Guaranteed Seat with Buffet package $130, General entry package $35 excludes buffet and guaranteed seat, whiskey tastings only.
–GOLDEN ROAD PUB BUFFET PACKAGE, available for $40, this includes General Track Admission and entry to the Golden Road Pub (buffet from 12 noon to 2 p.m.), guaranteed seating, private wagering machines, One Golden Road Beer and a racing program. Special wristband gets you $3 Buds and Bud Lights, as well as $5 Golden Road brews for the rest of the race day.
