Only 3 winners on the 10-race card on Wednesday, but we did manage to rack up 8 exactas on the day. They brought the bacon home and cooked it up nicely, too.

Here’s our looks for the Thursday card at Horseshoe Indianapolis:

1st: 1-4/5-6/3/2…Mommaggottarun (1) gets the nod in the ole’ lid-lifter at Horseshoe Indianapolis on this Thursday late afternoon post time. This 3YO daughter of Maclean’s Music comes in with three “placings” in a row and should fit very nicely in this MSW event for 5.5 furlongs. Gets a rider who is off to a superb start this meet — having gone 5-3-1 in the first 14 mounts. Look out here. Free Love (4) is a first time starter and has been prepping well over in Chi-town. Trainer has had only 31 starts this year, but does have .13% winners. May be overlooked in this spot. I bet the 1 to win/place/show and then box the 1-4 in the exactas. I will key the 1 over/under the 4-5-6-3-2 in two smaller units.

2nd: 4-1/7/2-6/3-5…Cashable (4) goes for the barn of Brad Cox, who is kicking the barn doors down and taking names in this venue. Has won with over .30% so far this meet and this one will make the 2022 debut. Has trained well over this surface and gets the meet’s top jockey, to boot and to boot. Look out. My first “Key Play of the Day.” I will bet this way: I bet the 4 across the board and then box the 4-1 in the exactas. I will key the 4-1 over/under the 7-2-6 in two smaller units.

3rd: 9-1/2-8/3-5-7/6-4…Ain’t She a Pistol (9) draws the far outside, but should be a tough out here. Just broke the maiden for $30,000 and now will take on winners for the first time. Barn wins with .19% when moving up and that’s with the last 57. Barn off to a very nice start here, too. Huge threat here. Beirut Beauty (1) takes the other end of the starting gate for the same barn. Gets the meet’s top rider up. Look for this one to be a handful and returns as a beaten favorite. Barn wins with .19% of those. Trainer has two tough ones in here and could sweep the honors. I bet the 9-1 across the board and then box these two in the exactas. I will key the 9-1 over (only) the 2-8-3-5-7 in a smaller unit.

4th: 3-6-9/1-(10)/7/4/2-5/8…Underdressed (3) had a bit of a hiccup in the final yards of the last one, but that was some tough company that he was keeping there. The two races before — up at Turfway Park — this one was a handful. Could be again with the hot rider taking the irons. My top pick. Tiz Our Turn (6) has raced here twice before and has a win on the resume. Gets a hot rider, as well, and can speed race them off their feet early. Eskenforit (9) will get back to the grass here and that’s a question mark, but this one has enough back class to pose a threat. I bet the 3-6 across the board and then box the top 3 in the exactas. I will key the top 3 numbers over/under the 1-7 in two smaller units.

5th: 10-7-4/8-11-1-6-(13)/2-9…I have to admit I have a rooting interest in this affair. The inside horse — Sahara Princess (1) — is owned by a group of great friends and trained by an outstanding young man, to boot. I love these guys and wish nothing but the best. Will make the career debut here and grabs the rail. That’s a tough assignment, but I am rooting here. So? Give me a pass? If forced….I think you have to beat the top 3 in the race. Those are my numbers. But I have to say that I’m rooting for the 1.

6th: 1-12-11/8/6-7/2-5-9-10-(13)/3-4…Mine Own Star (1) drops all the way to the $15,000 tag here after facing much tougher here on April 20. Gets the turf too, and the barn wins with .09% when making this surface switch. Both of those things could help elevate this one’s game. I bet the 1 across the board and then box the top 3 in the exactas. I will key the top 3 numbers over/under the 8 in two smaller units.

7th: 4/7-3-10-6/5-8-9/1-2…The first “Key Play of the Day” comes here with Bella Bolle (4). This 3YO Indiana-bred ran better-than-looks here on April 20. Ran huge last year, including an open race. Talent galore. I’m in. I bet the 4 across the board and then key the 4 over/under the 7-3-10-6-5 in the exactas.

8th: 9-5-6/4-8/1-7/2…Thedevilsalgorithm (9) won the 2022 debut here on April 26 and could duplicate that effort here, too. Barn wins with .14% on the 2nd start off a layup and with .15% that won the previous time out. Gets the meet’s top rider back in the saddle and this one now has 3 wins in 6 tries here. I’m in. I bet the 9 across the board and then box the top 3 in the exactas. I will key the top 3 numbers over/under the 4-8 in two smaller units.

9th: 8/5-2-3-6/7-10-(11)-(12)/4-9…The last “Key Play of the Day” comes here with the first Quarter Horse race of the day. I go with Playing Relentless (8), from the barn of Randy Smith. This one nearly won the career debut in Oklahoma at Remington Park in March. Winner of that one came right back to win the next time out, too. Look out. If any odds at all? I jump in. With both feet. I bet the 8 to win/place/show and then key the 8 over/under the 5-2-3-6-7 in the exactas.

10th: 7-9/1-8-6/2-5/3-4…Key Stone (7) gets the nod in the finale. First time starter for Randy Smith and this one has been working lights out. Lights. Out. I bet the 7 across the board and then box the 7-9 in the exactas. I will key the 7-9 over/under the 1-8-6-2 in two smaller units.

Good Luck & All the Best / Gene
