For many, the #13 is not very lucky. Some avoid at all costs.

But for trainers Wesley Ward and Mike Maker, the #13 is good. For now, anyway.

After Saturday’s races were concluded, the high-propane trainers were tied for the leading trainer at the current Turfway Park meet with 13 wins apiece.

Ward has put up 13 wins, 5 seconds and 7 thirds in the first 35 mounts this meet. That gives Ward a win percentage of an impressive .37%, and his horses are hitting the board .71% of the time.

Maker, on the other hand, has 13 wins, 6 seconds and 5 thirds in 50 saddle jobs. That amounts to a .26% win rate, and his horses have hit the board .48% of the time.

No matter how you cut it, though, this race figures to be a tight race between the duo to the finish line of the current meet.

All. The. Way. To. The. Wire.
