Every day, we will take a look at the published works all over the country to see if there is anything, or any horse that may stand out and give you a key edge in your handicapping tool box. If you have a horse that you have been watching and would like us to trek, as well, let us know. We will add it to our list and keep an eye out for them, too.
Here’s a closer look at some that caught our “EYES” today:
- Lord Simba, a brilliantly fast 3YO colt by Discreet Cat who is trained by Bob Baffert, was the fastest of 10 to cover 6Fs at Del Mar this morning. He went the distance in 1:12.20. Lord Simba was third in the Kona Gold Stakes on May 20 — against older colts. He has never been off the board in six lifetime starts and this marks his seventh published work since June 14. He is setting on dead red.
- It Tiz Well, a 3YO filly by Arch who won the G3 Delaware Oaks on July 8 in her last out, was the fastest of 60 to cover 5Fs at Del Mar this morning, covering the ground in a blistering :58.80 for trainer Jerry Hollendorfer. She won the G1 Honeybee Stakes at Oaklawn earlier this spring and looks to be revving it up now. Watch her next out. This one just may turn out to be ever bit as good as her stablemate Unique Bella.
- Vigor, a 3YO filly by War Front, was back on the track at Saratoga this morning for trainer Bill Mott. She breezed 4F in :50, which was the 13th best time out of 41 going the distance. This well-bred filly — owned by Claiborne Farm and Adele Dilschneider — has posted two straight thirds, the last time coming against the highly touted Chad Brown trainee Rubilinda. This was the sixth breeze since June for the filly, who should be ready to crank it up soon at Saratoga.
