Sales on Day 2 of Keeneland November Nearly Double
Amount from Last Year with $1.3 Million Broodmare Anywho
LEXINGTON, KY (Nov. 5, 2025) – Sales of $47 million at Wednesday’s second session of the Keeneland November Breeding Stock Sale — led by Raging Torrent Syndicate’s $1.3 million purchase of the broodmare Anywho in foal to Not This Time — nearly doubled the gross recorded on Day 2 of the auction last year. Anywho is the first seven-figure horse sold during the second session since 2022.
On a day of consistent trade with continued strong participation of domestic buyers at the top end of the market, Keeneland sold 235 horses through the ring for $47,362,000, an increase of 60.88% over the second session last year when 201 horses brought $29,440,000. The average climbed 37.60% from $146,468 to $201,540, and the median rose 33.33% from $120,000 to $160,000.
Cumulatively, 357 horses have grossed $120,099,000, a 30.81% increase from last year’s $91,810,000 for 344 horses sold. The average of $336,412 rose 26.05% compared to $266,890 in 2024 while the median of $225,000 is 12.50% higher than $200,000.
Today’s sale of Anywho increased the number of million-dollar horses in the November Sale to 18. Last year all nine seven-figure horses came on the first day of the auction.
“The day was outstanding,” Keeneland Vice President of Sales Tony Lacy said. “It was incredibly positive across all metrics. The gross was up nearly 61% over last year. The clearance rate was up to 78%. It was really healthy across the board.
“Anybody looking for a quality mare really had to step up and pay,” Lacy continued. “There was a real vibrance about the marketplace. It was relentless and consistent. That gave a lot of people confidence in the back ring. They felt like the market was going to tell them, in a realistic way, what something was worth. It was very optimistic and very, very positive.”
“I think that the take home for me was we sold 235 horses through the ring to 180 different buyers,” Keeneland Senior Director of Sales Operations Cormac Breathnach said. “That indicates the depth of buyer base with buyers competing against one another, which is the reason so many horses are just sailing past reserves. There’s real live activity. The bid spotters are having fun. Everyone’s having a good time on this side of it, which is very gratifying. And hopefully the sellers are getting what they want out of the market as well.”
On Tuesday, Raging Torrent Syndicate acquired two horses — both in-foal mares consigned by Grovendale Sales, agent — to lead buyers with $1,925,000 in purchases. Its $1.3 million acquisition, Anywho, is a 5-year-old winning Grade 3-placed daughter of Bolt d’Oro out of Fancy and Flashy, a winning stakes-placed daughter of Zensational.
“It’s always lovely to sell a horse for a million dollars,” Grovendale’s James Keogh said. “She was a lovely, lovely mare, and she came from a tremendous female family. She was just impossible to fault.
“We’re just very, very grateful to everyone who made it happen — to the crew back at the barn and girls at home that prepped them for me,” Keogh added. “Julie Cauthen, at Four Star Sales, she also comes and works for me in the evenings, and I have a bunch of high school girls that come and help me every afternoon. They get in there and they rub the hair off these horses, and we’re just very, very proud of the job they do.
“This sale means everything,” Keogh added. “I’m just a Keeneland guy. That’s just my DNA.”
Raging Torrent Syndicate also went to $625,000 for Very Scary, a 6-year-old stakes-placed winner by Connect in foal to Into Mischief.
The session’s leading consignor with sales of $8,165,000 for 31 horses, Taylor Made Sales Agency, agent, sold two in-foal mares for $750,000 apiece.
Finn Green, agent, paid the amount for Who’s Ticket, a 4-year-old daughter of Quality Road and champion Take Charge Brandi in foal to Practical Joke. A half-sister to stakes winner Courvoisier, she is from the family of champion Will Take Charge; Grade 1 winner and sire Omaha Beach; and Grade 1 winners Take Charge Indy and As Time Goes By. The third dam of Who’s Ticket is Broodmare of the Year Take Charge Lady.
“We had to stretch,” said Green, who bought the mare for an undisclosed domestic client, “but she has pedigree. Grade 1 horses don’t come along in multiple generations. There’s three generations of them.”
Golden Ghost (GB), a 4-year-old winning daughter of Medaglia d’Oro in foal to Not This Time, brought $750,000 from Thirty Year Farm. Out of French Group 1 winner Villa Marina (GB), by Le Havre, she was consigned by Taylor Made Sales Agency, agent for the DJ Stable Curated Reduction.
American West, a 7-year-old daughter of Curlin from the family of Grade 1 winner and sire Constitution, sold in foal to Practical Joke to International Equities Holding for $650,000. Consigned by Mill Ridge Sales, agent for White Birch Farm, she is out of Grade 3 winner Jacaranda, by Congrats.
At $550,000, the session’s highest-priced weanlings were from the first crops of Horse of the Year Cody’s Wish and champion Elite Power.
Hartly/DeRenzo, agent for Tom Durant, paid the amount for a filly by Cody’s Wish. Out of the winning stakes-placed Union Rags mare Union Maiden, she was consigned by Lane’s End, agent for Natalma.
“We’re seeing something special in the Cody’s Wishes, and we really wanted to try to buy one,” Randy Hartley said. “We’ve bid on a few and didn’t get them. I felt like this filly was the best one left, so we were going home with her. We stretched a little bit, but she’s got some pedigree and we’re looking for fillies down the road for Tom (Durant) to race.”
Glen Hill Farm paid $550,000 for a colt by Elite Power consigned by Grovendale Sales, agent. Out of the Pioneerof the Nile mare Mrs. Postman, he is from the family of Preakness (G1) winner Seize the Grey; additional Grade 1 winners Miss Shop and Power Broker; Grade 2 winner and sire Trappe Shot; and Grade 3 winner Tin Type Gal.
