Every day, we scour the work tabs at racetracks all over the country.  We are looking for workouts that may be of interest and helpful to you — as both race fans and handicappers.  Some of the horses we will be tracking, you will know.  Some of them, you may not know — as of yet.  We will keep a keen eye and stopwatch to see who may be working well:

  1. Excessivespending, a 4YO Shackleford filly trained by Christ Hartman, was back in action this morning at Churchill Downs. This one — who ran 6th in the G3 Buffalo Trace Franklin County Stakes at Keeneland two starts ago before winning an allowance over in Lexington — was scratched out of a nice event last week at Churchill Downs when the cold, snowy and wet conditions forced the race off the grass. This morning, she went an easy half mile over the dirt track in :51.20. That was the 17th best time of 22. Don’t know how she rates in Graded Stakes company just yet, but she ran third in the Unbridled Sideney Stakes at Churchill Downs back in May. Good one, for sure.
  2. Manny Wah, a 2YO son of Will Take Charge, ran 4th in the Street Sense Stakes here on Nov. 2 for trainer Wayne Catalano. Was well beaten by a runaway winner in Improbable, a chestnut colt by Cit Zip and owned by the combo of WinStar Farm and the China Horse Club. This morning, Manny was back in action at Churchill Downs, touring a half mile in :50.20. That was 6th best out of the 22.
  3. Oxford Comma, a 3YO Majesticperfection filly trained by Tom Amoss for owner Sandra New, has been a wonderful story this year. In 6 tries, she has put up 5 wins — all the way from Delta Downs to Mahonig Valley to Indy Grand. In 10 starts in her career now, she has a total of 7 wins. Not a bad ratio at all. This morning, she worked at Churchill Downs, going 5 furlongs in 1:00.20. That was the bullet move out of the 7 to go that far. A feel good story right here.
