Every day, we scour the work tabs at racetracks all over the country.  We are looking for workouts that may be of interest and helpful to you — as both race fans and handicappers.  Some of the horses we will be tracking, you will know.  Some of them, you may not know — as of yet.  We will keep a keen eye and stopwatch to see who may be working well:

  1. Win Win Win, far outside, hooks up with Tacitus, in-between, and Country House in an impromptu throw down. Win Win Win’s regular work mate looks a lot like me trying to keep up with my beautiful wife Leigh Ann. That’s him in the back. Laboring. My favorite photo of the week.

2. Restless Rider, ears pinned, gets her last work before Friday’s Kentucky Oaks. This gal looks the part. She is fresh and eager. Don’t dismiss.

3. Code of Honor, jogs into his gallop on the day of his last work. The gallop turned into a full-out breeze, which went in :46 & change. A wow moment this week. A bit on the smallish side. A ton on the talent side. I’m using in the mix.

4. Omaha Beach, a won of War Front, is one striking individual and the ML favorite. Just look at him. Tucked up, and everywhere to go. A beauty. A must use for me.

5. Game Winner, my top pick, didn’t work here this week. Got his last major move in at Santa Anita before shipping in. But take a look at this guy. Seriously? Ripped. Ready. Right.

6. Serengeti Empress, who bled in the Fair Grounds Oaks and went from sure-look winner to last and loaded onto a van, has come back slowly, methodically, and, at the same time, brilliantly for trainer Tom Amoss. I am rooting for her. Hard.

7. Spencer Freeman, our very own make-shift bartender, and Chester Thomas, the owner of By My Standards, at the Shantel Lanerie Breast Cancer Foundation Golf Tournament on Monday. This is the definition of “working in company.”
