Editor’s Note:
It is always a good day when you can take leave of your work schedule and home schedule and you can schedule a trip to the backside of a racetrack near you.
The senses come alive with the sound of horses — hooves hitting the ground; jockey’s squealing as loud as the mares in the shed row; and the grooms splashing water on anything that moves.
The smell of someone cooking chicken is off-set by the aroma escaping the muck pit. Southern fried.
The scene on the racetrack; the scenes on the way to the racetrack; the scenes on the way back from the racetrack; just the scenes. Each one begs to be photographed. Each one begs to be hung in a frame on someone’s wall.
Just the perfect day for our own Holly M. Smith, who never misses a chance to capture the glory.
