Editor’s Note:

There is not a day that goes by in the annual “dog days of summer” that us West Kentuckians don’t think and smile about the Wiener Dog Races at Ellis Park. The picnic tables are filled with little kids standing on top and rooting like crazy. The dog parents are letting their “steeds” go on the dirt track, only to sprint to their favorite fan at the finish line. The laughs overwhelm the shouts and the smiles outweigh the results. It is a great day.

And, the horses add to the drama and fun, as well.

Summer at Ellis Park is part fan and part family. Part horses and part happy days. Part sun and more sun.
