McLean’s Updated Handicapping Statistics — “On a Roll”

We have finally updated our handicapping statistics through the end of racing at Ellis Park on Monday, Aug. 19. Whew. Really. Whew.

But, in doing so, we realize several things that have been occurring, of late.

We have been on a bit of a roll at Ellis Park, which will soon be better than ever when the new owners — Churchill Downs — can complete its’ Historic Horse Racing venue near Owensboro and additional revenues start to roll in and pile up. By this time next year? It will be amazing to see the purses; the horses; the old place turn into a new destination.

But consider this:

Over the last 93 races at Ellis, our top pick has hit the board 63 times. That is a “hit rate” of 67.74%.

Over the same 93 races, we have won 37 times. That is a “win rate” of 39.78%.

Our top selection is now winning at a 33.91 rate for the entire meet, which is up significantly since the start of the meet around July 4 (by the way, where the heck has the summer gone?).

Our top three picks, overall, are hitting the board collectively on over .36% of the time. And, our top pick is hitting the board on 61.62% of the time, as well.

Our “Key Horses” are winning at a .50% rate at Ellis Park and have hit the board on 72.22% of the time, and overall now, our “Key Horses” are winning are a near .40% rate and are hitting the board on 73.91% of the time.

Here’s hoping we keep it rolling for a few more days. We could use it.
