Diamond Solitaire, our amazing 6YO mare who has been shinning ever since birth, will be back in action today at her home away from home and Horseshoe Indianapolis. This may be one of the last times we ever have the chance to watch her run again, as she will be making her 36 career start. Time has a way of catching up with all of us. And, the calendar is a relentless foe.

But…

We are hoping for one or two more times to circle the wagons and circle the field, too.

Here is the first chance to go out on top. In front. In glory.

The grand mare — who has had to overcome so much adversity in her life just to make it to the races — has already exceeded any and all expectations.

From losing her mom at one week, and overcoming a broken leg that she sustained in the trip to the clinic for her mom, who was suffering from a severe bout of colic at the time. From being rescued by her earth mom and co-breeder, Lori Hebel-Osborne, and restored and revived by her nurse mare, Geri. From being left for near death, by some.

From there to this…

She has always overcome and over-done.

She has earned nearly $450,000 in her career, including her first two Stakes wins this year.

She has hit the board in 19 of the first 35 starts, and has 7 wins in her girth.

She has won sprints and routes.

She has now won two Stakes, and has hit the board in seven more Stakes events.

She has always given all.

Today, she will be back. For more. And, like she always does, she will give us more.

Here’s hoping for the best. Knock on wood.
