Stats Are Now Completely Updated — Thank God & Greyhound

It took me 31/2 days of non-stop grinding, but I have finally got my act together and have my handicapping statistics caught up going into today’s activities — which we will renew with the Horseshoe Indy card later.

Three days. And, one half. And, I mean three days. And, one half.

We sat. We looked up. We inputted. And, we calculated. If I have not mentioned it, as of yet. For the past 31/2 days.

My eyes, back and brain all were sprained, but I finally got up to speed this morning.

I will delve more into the numbers in more specifics, a bit later. But after a very chilly winter handicapping, I caught fire this Spring and tore them a new one through the Kentucky Derby and the month of May. Got back to respectability.

The past month has not been great, but we have rallied the last few days to give us some hope that we may be ready for another little hot streak coming soon.

Such is the life of a handicapper.

But take a look. The numbers are all there in black and white. And, I think I am one of the few public handicappers that give you my statistics. But I wouldn’t do this without sharing what I know. Just would not.

The good news first:

  1. My top pick in the money (the first three spots) is hitting around 60% (59.82%) after 1,003 races handicapped this year. I think that is very respectable.
  2. My top pick is hitting in the money at nearly 65% at Horseshoe Indianapolis, although my top pick win rate is not where I would like it to be (32.02%).
  3. So far, I have only handicapped 6 races at Saratoga. That was on Belmont Stakes day. My top pick hit the board in 5 out of those 6.
  4. My win rate at Churchill Downs this Spring/Summer meet was a hefty 34.08%, after I handicapped 314 races at the big oval. I had the Kentucky Oaks winner and the Kentucky Derby winner. I had a big Spring at my favorite track. Maybe that’s why it is one of the favorites of all time.
  5. I had 5 winners out of 9 races at Pimlico on Preakness Day. That measures out to a 55.56 win rate with my top pick.
  6. The biggest news for me, though, is my “Key Plays of the Day.” So far, I have had 110 of those this year. I have picked 57 winners, with 13 seconds and 18 thirds. That amounts to a win rate of 51.82% and my pick has hit the board on 80% of the time. I like that. I hope you do, too.
  7. So far this year, I have three tracks where I am batting 100% with my “Key Plays.” I am 1-for-1 at Saratoga (thank you Kentucky Derby and Belmont Stakes winner). I am a spotless 2-for-2 at Pimlico. And, currently, I am 3-for-3 at Ellis Park — the ole’ “Pea Patch.”

I was nearly 3 months behind in calculating my numbers. Sorry guys. Been working on a couple of projects that I hope we can get announced here soon. I am proud of the work that my partners, Rob Murphy and Michele Murphy, have done. So excited about our chances to do something fun and exciting later this year. Stay tuned.

But I promise to not get this far behind again.

It’s excruciating to play catch up.

Good Luck & All the Best / Gene
