BREEDERS’ CUP BETTING PAYOUTS FAR EXCEED NATIONAL AVERAGES

According to Data from Equibase, Breeders’ Cup Races Provide Substantial Value to Horseplayers

DEL MAR, Calif. (October 24, 2025) – With full fields of the best horses from around the world and substantial liquidity in its wagering pools, the Breeders’ Cup World Championships consistently offer outstanding betting value for racing fans.

Over the last five years, the average win payout for Breeders’ Cup winners ($18.29 for a $2 win wager) is 64% higher than for Thoroughbred races run in North America over the same period ($11.14), per Equibase data. And the payouts for exactas, trifectas and superfectas are 209%, 344% and 566% higher, respectively.

In Del Mar’s Breeders’ Cup races last year, specifically, the average $2 win payout was $20.54, an 86% increase over the North American 2024 average win payout of $11.05.

The increased payouts are also pronounced in multi-race pools over the last five years, as doubles (148% higher payout), Pick 3s (182%), Pick 4s (180%), Pick 5s (574%), and Pick 6s (914%) involving Breeders’ Cup races all significantly outperformed average payouts from across North America.
