Mister T slams field in Indiana Futurity at Horseshoe Indianapolis

SHELBYVILLE, Ind. (Thursday, November 13, 2025) – Mister T took no pity on his opponents during the final premier race of the season Thursday, November 13 at Horseshoe Indianapolis. Mister T and jockey Mitchell Murrill were in full gear to win the 26th running of the $100,000 Indiana Futurity, stopping the timer in 1:43.32.

Starting from post two, it didn’t take Murrill long to recognize there was going to be a battle on the lead and took off the early pace as three horses were vying for the top spot around the first turn of the one mile, 70 yard event. Q’s Got Class and Jose Gutierrez powered to the front from the far outside to join Speedy Spirit and Santo Sanjur on the inside and JR Sunchaser with Fernando De La Cruz between horses. The trio of runners ran side by side down the backstretch before JR Sunchaser opted to back off, leaving Q’s Got Class and Speedy Spirit to battle it out into the final turn. That was also a cue for Mister T who began to make up ground along the inside.

In the turn, Mister T was moving by horses on the inside at a brisk clip before angling out to get around the final pair. At the head of the lane, Mister T blew by his opponents and rallied out to a five and one-quarter length win. Young Angus and Joe Ramos moved up the inside from last to finish second over Mr Sledge Hammer and Hannah Leahey, who also used late speed to finish in third.

“This is a super cool horse,” noted Murrill. “This horse can do whatever you ask him and then some. I knew the pace was going to be hot, so we just sat off the pace and then I asked him to run. When I asked him, he did his job and responded.”

Mister T was the heavy favorite, paying $3.20 for the win. The Sahara Sky son completes his two-year-old season on a three-race win streak for owner F.K. Bailey and assistant trainer Justin Bailey. Chaz Rechy trains the talented freshman, who is now a two-time premier racing winner of more than $140,000.

“This horse means everything to us,” noted Justin Bailey, who is a blacksmith by trade. “We are so proud of him, and I couldn’t be more thankful and proud of what he has done this year.”

The 23rd season of live Thoroughbred and Quarter Horse concluded Thursday, Nov. 13. Racing returns for the 24thseason Tuesday, April 7. For more information on racing at Horseshoe Indianapolis, visitwww.caesars.com/horseshoe-indianapolis/racing or find details on social media @HSIndyRacing.
