MAP OF THE MOON ATTEMPTS TO STAY UNDEFEATED IN $125,000 GOWELL STAKES

FLORENCE, Ky. (Saturday, Dec. 27, 2025)Nbs Stable’s undefeated filly Map of the Moon will attempt to stay undefeated as she faces seven rivals entered in the 32nd running of the $125,000 Gowell Stakes on New Year’s Day at Turfway Park Racing & Gaming.

Run at six furlongs for newly-turned 3-year-old fillies, Thursday’s Gowell Stakes is the featured event on the nine-race program and will go as Race 8 at 9:25 p.m. (all times Eastern). First post is 5:55 p.m.

Trained by Kelsey Danner, Map of the Moon is a perfect 2-for-2 to start her young career. A daughter of Liam’s Map, Map of the Moon scored a neck victory in her debut Oct. 11 at Keeneland and returned one month later to win the Stewart Manor Stakes at Aqueduct by three-quarters of a length. In both victories she was ridden by Axel Concepcion, who was named to ride in the Gowell Stakes from post No. 8.

Another accomplished filly entered in the field is Patricia’s Hope and Carolyn Wilson’s two-time stakes winner Sassy C W. Trained by Larry Rivelli, Sassy C W was a dominant 5 ¼-length debut winner April 30 at Churchill Downs, then won the Astoria Stakes at Saratoga and the Prairie Gold Lassie Stakes at Prairie Meadows. The lone blemish of her career came Aug. 28 at Kentucky Downs when she finished fifth in an allowance contest. Holiday Meet-leading rider Walter Rodriguez has the call from post 5.
