It’s Kentucky Derby time. It’s horse time. It’s get-ready-for-celebration time.

This time, every year, the step in the walk picks up a tick or two. This time, every year, the mind wakes a little brighter and a little happier. This time, every year, the soul feels a little warmer. After all, this time is Kentucky Derby Time and to most everyone who grew up in this Commonwealth and on top of this bluest of bluegrass, it is a special time.

It’s a special time for our friend, Holly M. Smith, too.

She makes it a point to get out to Churchill Downs’ busy backside just a little more often. She makes it a point to pack her camera and various lenses. She makes it a point to go “horse hunting,” to find and photo some of the best Thoroughbreds that the world today knows and appreciates.
