Every week and, sometimes more often, we will be picking a “Donation Play of the Day” for Horseshoe Indianapolis. All of the proceeds that we can compile by the end of this manmouth meet in November will be donated to the Homeless Veterans of Indianapolis — one of the most favorite charities of Eric Halstrom — the Vice President of Racing and General Manager of one of the most wonderful racing facilities in this grand country of ours.

We started last week and our pick — Velveteen — ran 2nd in the 4th race on Opening Day. We bet $10 across the board. We got back $23.50. So, according to our commitment, we will be donating $23.50 towards the cause.

This 4YO gelded son of Blame will be making his career debut for top trainer William Walden, who wins with .20% of the last 81 to make the first career start. This guy had an outstanding work at Keeneland on April 7, going the 2nd fastest time out of 23 to clock the distance at 4F on the main dirt track. Looks ready.
