Editor’s Note:

We are still searching for our first win of the year in our weekly (if not more often) “Donation Play of the Day” at Horseshoe Indianapolis. This is a cause we picked up from “The Shoe’s” incredible and undeniable leader — VP & GM for Racing Eric Halstrom. Mr. Halstrom has been a longtime, dedicated, and faithful donor to charitable organizations that recognize and help our military veterans and those that have served all over the the world for our protection. Over the past few years, he and Caesar’s Horseshoe Indianapolis have raised a considerable amount of funds to assist The Homeless Veterans of Indianapolis organization. A year ago, we started a bet to help that cause.

We have selected a few bets already this meet, and we have hit the board in each.

But…

We are still searching for that first win.

Here’s hoping we can cash in for the Veterans.

Here’s hoping that you may join with us in this worthy cause.

Mr. Halstrom does this in memory of his father, who served our country, as well.

I do it for Mr. Halstrom and the memory of his father…and all those Veterans who have returned home and found life a little more difficult that it should be.

I hope you do it, for whatever reason you may have.

It’s worth the effort.

We are going with Sweet Summertime — in the 5th race.

This 3YO Known Agenda filly could improve in the 2nd start off the layoff and has run 2nd in four straight races. She may not really like to win, but we are hoping she finds the wire first here.

Let’s hope that the return to the route distance helps this Indiana-bred.
