We are off to a bit of a slow start in our annual “Donation Play of the Day” for Horseshoe Indy in 2026. If you recall, we make at least one play per week — and sometimes more — to help Horseshoe Indy and its’ remarkable VP and GM for Racing — Eric Halstrom — raise money for one of his most meaningful charitable groups — the Homeless Veterans of Indianapoolis

A year ago, we helped raise close to $2,000 by making our “Donation Plays” throughout the meet. So far, we are still looking for the first win of 2026 and dramatically changing the total that we have earned so far, which sits at $52.20.

So, today, we are going $10 across the board on Baladine in the 2nd race at “The Shoe.” This 7YO gelding will be making the first start of the year and the first start ever in the Shelbyville, IN area. But? The new barn does quite well with horses that are making the first start for the new trainer and this one has been training well for the ’26 debut. Gets the meet’s hottest rider and won the last time out — at Hawthorne last October.

I like the 7-2 ML odds, too, and here’s hoping we can score a victory and a win for the charity, as well.
