Jennifer Hudspeth wins Racing Rachel’s Warriors at Horseshoe Indianapolis
SHELBYVILLE, Ind. (Wednesday, Nov. 13, 2024) – Racing Rachel’s Warriors, named after the track’s popular on-air racing personality Rachel McLaughlin, came to a close Wednesday, Nov. 13 crowning Jennifer Hudspeth of Noblesville, Ind. as the champion in the $2,000 final. The series, which began Wed. April 17 spanned the entire racing season with each week’s preliminary round winner advancing to the final.
Hudspeth qualified for the final on the 13th week held July 17, 2024. She topped the finalists with a tally of $33.90 over Mary Miller of Shelbyville, Ind., who accumulated $26.80 in the final. Steve Sherron, Charles Smothers and Joyce Anderson rounded out the top five, all of which earned a share of the $2,000 prize money.
Hudspeth and her husband, Greg, competed almost every week seeking to advance to the final round. She is an avid horse lover and has owned several off the track Thoroughbreds who have moved into second careers as show jumpers under Hudspeth’s guidance. She just lost her current Thoroughbred two weeks ago in a pasture accident. She noted the trophy she takes home as the winner of Racing Rachel’s Warriors will be dedicated to her longtime companion in the show ring. In addition to the trophy, Hudspeth took home the lion’s share of $1,000 as the prize money for the final.
