Here’s our looks at the opening night card at the new and improved Turfway Park, nestled in the metro of Northern Kentucky.

Take a look at this new facility. Take a look at this card. Take a look at these purses. Take a look at the depth of the fields in each racing. Tell me that Kentucky Thoroughbred Racing is not excelling. Just try and tell and sell that story.

It’s truly amazing, and one of the reasons that trainers like Peter Eurton — one of the best that California had to offer just a few days ago — now has a string at The Thoroughbred Center in Lexington, KY and is entering races here. Here. At Turfway Park. At the beginning of the winter — when it used to be that jockeys, trainers and horses, alike, all headed South for the warmth of Gulfstream Park, Tampa Bay, the Fairgrounds and Oaklawn — ran out of Kentucky as fast as a van and a plane could take them.

No more. No longer.

A $5,000 Starter Allowance has a purse of nearly $23,000.

The first Maiden Special Weight race has a purse of $80,000.

Unreal.
