(Nearly?) Every day (Some days?), we scour the work tabs at racetracks all over the country. We are looking for workouts that may be of interest and helpful to you — as both race fans and handicappers. Some of the horses we will be tracking, you will know. Some of them, you may not know — as of yet.
We are back…Take a look:
- Shop Girl, a 3YO daughter of Constitution and Stakes-placed twice in just four career starts for trainer Christophe Clement, worked this morning at Belmont Park. The talented filly, who has not started since March, went 5 furlongs over the main dirt track in 1:00.67. That was the bullet move out of 7 to go that far. And, it marked the fifth published work since May 11. Looks like this one could be rounding back into form and ready to race again soon. The dam of this one, Flaming Slew, was Graded Stakes placed in 27 career starts. Pedigree here.
- Cazadero, a 3YO son of Street Sense and one trained by HOFer Steve Asmussen, worked this morning at Churchill Downs. This one — who is 2-2-0 in the first 6 starts and ran 2nd to Jaxon Traveler in the Bachelor Stakes just two starts ago — went an easy 3 furlongs in :39.60. That was the 4th best time out of 4 to clock the distance. Since the last race on May 22, this one has three published works. All methodical. Interesting to see what the plans are next.
- Saran, a 3YO daughter of The Factor and a Stakes-placed winner of nearly $120,000 for trainer Brad Cox, worked at Churchill Downs this morning, as well. This one — who ran 4th to Jouster in the G2 Appalachian Stakes last time out on April 3 — went a snappy half-mile in :47.80. That was the 9th best time out of 40 to clock the distance. Look for this one to be about ready to reenter the racing fray very soon. Looks primed, too.
- Town Avenger, a 3YO daughter of Speightstown and undefeated in just one career start for trainer Brian Lynch, worked very nicely at Churchill Downs this morning. This May foal — who won the debut here on May 23 — went 5 furlongs over the main dirt track in :59 flat. That was the bullet move out of 7 to go the distance. Look for this one to pick up the racing pace again soon. She cost $380,000 at the 2019 KEE September Yearling Sale for owners Jim and Susan Hill.
- Red Ghost, a 3YO daughter of Ghostzapper and a winner of 3 of 4 lifetime starts for trainer Wesley Ward, worked at Keeneland this morning. The talented filly, who just own the G3 Miss Preakness Stakes at Pimlico in her last start, went 5 furlongs this morning over the main dirt track in 1:00.20. That was the 2nd best time out of 18 to go the distance. Look for more out of this one soon. Homebred for Douglas Scharbauer looks to be the part.
