We are back looking at the daily workout schedule from around the country. Every day (Some days?), we scour the work tabs at racetracks all over the country.  We are looking for workouts that may be of interest and helpful to you — as both race fans and handicappers.  Some of the horses we will be tracking, you will know.  Some of them, you may not know — as of yet.

We are back…Take a look:

  1. Bleecker Street, an undefeated daughter of Quality Road and trained by Chad Brown, worked this morning at Belmont Park in New York. The multiple Graded Stakes winner — who is a perfect 6-for-6 in the stellar career — went an easy 4 furlongs in :49.65. That was the 27th best time out of 41 to travel over the main dirt track. This gal won the G3 Modesty Stakes at Churhcill Downs on KY Oaks Day in her last public performance. That was the third Stakes victory in a row.
  2. Gerrymander, a 3YO daughter of Into Mischief and another trained by Brown, worked 5 furlongs at the “Big Sandy” today, as well. This gal — who disappointed with a 6th place finish in the G2 Eight Belles Stakes on Oaks Day — went a brisk :59.80 over the distance and that was the bullet move out of 9 to work that distance. Going into the Eight Belles, Gerrymander had never been worse than 2nd and was coming off a win in the Tempted Stakes at Belmont Park last November. Look for more in the 2nd start of 2022.
  3. Jack Christopher, the undefeated 3YO son of Munnings and the impressive winner of the G2 Pat Day Mile in the 2022 debut for Brown, worked at Belmont Park today, as well. This guy — who is a perfect 3-for-3 so far — breezed 5 furlongs over the main dirt track in 1:00.02. That was the 2nd best time out of the 9. This guy may turn out to be the best 3YO in the land, yet. Stay tuned. More to come.
  4. Arklow, now an 8YO and a well-decorated son of Arch, is back in training for conditioner Brad Cox. This horse is inches away from earning over $3 million in purses, but has not run since finishing 5th in the G1 Joe Hirsch Turf Classic Stakes last October. Went an easy 3 furlongs today at Churchill Downs in his first published work since then and breezed the distance in :39.40. That was the 16th best time out of 18. Great to have the “old man” back in town.
  5. Grand Sonata, a 3YO daughter of Medaglia d’Oro and trained by Todd Pletcher, is coming off a nice 2nd place finish in the G3 Transylvania Stakes at KEE in her last start. Now has a record of 3-2-0 in 6 lifetime starts. Worked at Churchill Downs this morning. Went 4 furlongs in :50 flat. That was the 3rd best time out of 8 to travel over the new turf course at the big oval. Look for this one to pop again soon. Eyes open.
  6. Major General, a 3YO son of Constitution and another in the Pletcher barn at Churchill Downs, worked this Sunday morn. Went 5 furlongs over the turf track in the same time as his stablemate just above. So far in the career, this one has been pointed to the major dirt preps for the Triple Crown races. Ran 2nd in the G3 Lexington Stakes to Tawny Port and defeated some good 3YOs in that affair. But returned to run a distant 9th to Jack Christopher in the G2 Pat Day Mile. Be interesting to see if the interests give this one a shot on the sod soon.
  7. Cyberknife, a 3YO son of Gun Runner and trained by Brad Cox, got some work in this morning at Churchill Downs, too. The winner of the G1 Arkansas Derby — who disappointed with a lackluster 18th in the Kentucky Derby — went 4 furlongs in a very impressive :47.60 today. That was the 5th best time out of 106 to go the distance. And, it was his 2nd published work since the KY Derby. Don’t know yet what may be in this one’s future, but he’s too good not to jump back up the charts soon.
  8. Tawny Port, another Cox pupil and who ran a better-than-expected 7th in the KY Derby, worked the same distance as his roommate at Churchill Downs this morning. The 3YO son of Pioneerof the Nile — who won the G3 Lexington Stakes to earn entry into the Derby — went 4 furlongs in :48.80. That was the 35th best time out of the 106. Like his kindred spirit above, it was his 2nd breeze back since the Derby. More in the future for this one, too. Stay tuned.
  9. Santin, winner of the G1 Old Forester Bourbon Turf Classic at Churchill Downs on KY Derby Day for trainer Brendan Walsh, returned to action on Sunday morning. This 4YO son of Distorted Humor breezed 5 furlongs over the turf course in 1:02 flat. That was the 3rd best time out of 5. In 6 career races now, this one has a record of 3-2-0 and in addition to the G1 victory has a couple of 2nds in G2 events, as well. More to come here.
  10. Clairiere, a multiple Graded Stakes winner for trainer Steve Asmussen, worked at Churchill Downs on Sunday, as well. The 4YO daughter of Curlin breezed 5 furlongs in 1:00 flat. That was the 5th best time out of 42. This gal — who may just become the best older female in the land before the year is through — finished 2nd in the G1 Apple Blossom Handicap last time out. That was to the great Letruska. That showdown match is sure to turn up later in the year, too.
  11. Echo Zulu, one of the favorites for this year’s KY Oaks, was back in action today. The 3YO daughter of Gun Runner — who suffered her first career defeat in the Oaks when she was 4th — went a brilliant 5 furlongs over the dirt track in :59.60. That was the bullet move out of 42 to clock the distance. Word is that Asmussen plans to keep this gal at one-turn races in the near future. She may be a tough customer to catch.
  12. Mandaloun, the winner of the 2021 Kentucky Derby, is on the comeback trail for trainer Brad Cox, The 4YO son of Into Mischief — who won the G3 Louisiana Stakes at the Fair Grounds in January before shipping over to the Gr1 Saudi Cup fiasco — worked 5 furlongs in 1:00.60. That was the 13th best time out of 42 to go that far. It was the fourth straight work in May for this brilliant bay colt, who now has gone 6-1-1 in 10 lifetime starts. Be interesting to see where he shows up next.
