Editor’s Note:

There are few things in life, these days, that are dependable. I guess the old saying that “nothing is certain but death and taxes,” which is attributed to the great Benjamin Franklin way back in 1789, still applies. But I can add to that list, for me. Holly M. Smith is certain.

Always dependable.

Always trusting.

Always capable and able.

Always willing.

And, she is as close to “certain” as it comes.

This past week, she has made her way to Churchill Downs — again — to capture the sights and sounds of the backside as we rapidly approach the magical season we call “Kentucky Derby.”
